Communication and Relationships

Every one of us is a communicator. We interact with others in all kinds of ways every day, and we all possess a level of ability in communication. But when we find we’re struggling with certain people or having difficulty communicating particular messages, it’s useful to consider enhancing our communication skills.

In the workplace, relationship and communication skills are critical to our success. Positive working relationships contribute to our pleasure, fulfillment and achievement at work, while fraught relationships can create stress and reduce our productivity.
At Strategic Intent, we offer you the opportunity to develop your communication and relationship skills through customised workshops and individual or team coaching.
Through these workshops, we support you to develop your capacity to relate and communicate so that you may experience:

• a working life that is congruent with your personal and organisational values
• improved self-expression
• positive, constructive relationships
• increased emotional intelligence
• new perspectives on your behavior and that of others
• a greater sense of self-responsibility and self-actualisation
• reduced conflict and increased conflict resolution skills, and
• less stress in your workplace.

Workshop: Successful Communication, Successful Relationships.

At Strategic Intent we know that strong working relationships develop through excellent communication, so we customise our workshops to suit your particular communication and relationship needs.

Our participatory, relevant workshops invite you to examine the only thing that you can change – yourself.

Understanding your personal role in communication gives you the freedom to choose more harmonious and satisfying relationships – even with people you consider difficult. With greater self-understanding, you will be able to manage your reactions to people, recognise the actions that enhance or obstruct effective communication, and intentionally create positive relationships, ensuring your communication is in harmony with your intentions as a leader.

The workshop format allows you to develop your skills in talking and listening – enhancing your ability to engage in more intentional communication and helping you avoid the unintentional, negative results of poor interactions.

Working with Teams

Working as part of an effective team can be an immensely satisfying experience. For any team to perform well, strong relationships and effective communication skills are essential elements.

A successful and harmonious team needs four things: technical competence; agreement on the way in which team members engage with one another, including accountability; agreement on the way members wish to been seen by others; and agreement on the communication of honest feedback to improve team performance.

Team-building with the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

Our capacity to work together with respect and to accept difference can be enhanced by developing a deeper understanding of ourselves and each other.

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality tool that enables individuals to understand the ways in which they make decisions, absorb information and communicate with and relate to others.

At Strategic Intent, our team workshops using the MBTI are designed to offer you individual insight and direction for your team.

The workshops can be subject-specific, including leadership preferences, ways of dealing with conflict and options for managing change.
